READY TO ADOPT?
Once our mules graduate from training, they are then ready to move on to their forever homes. If you are interested in adopting, review our adoption policy first and then complete our adoption form. You will be contacted AFTER these steps are completed and your $20 application payment is submitted.
Adoption fees start at $500 and increase depending on the mule's size, behavior and expertise.
All LMMR mules are microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed and have a current Coggins. In order for a mule to be considered "adoptable", it must meet certain criteria:
Mule must lead with a halter
Mule must be able to stand tied
Mule must allow brushing all over
Mule must be able to pick up all 4 feet
Mule must load into a trailer
SOME MULES MAY BE TEMPORARILY LOCATED IN LIBERTY HILL, TEXAS FOR TRAINING.

Rose
While Rose is considered a permanent resident of our sanctuary, she has excelled in her foster home and we are offering her for adoption. Rose is 25 years old and requires a daily grain and pellet forage diet. She can eat some hay and grass, but due to having old teeth she needs extra food to sustain her weight properly. Rose is sweet and gentle to lead, stand tied, pick up her feet, and stand for a farrier. She can be a little shy about being caught at first, but is never too difficult and once she trusts you, she will catch you. Rose does have some trailer anxiety if she is being trailered by herself, but when handled with experience she is not difficult to load. Rose was purchased by LMMR at auction and she rode very well in the ring - allowing her rider to do flips and tricks on her back - although we have not ridden her here due to her being very underweight when she was rescued. While you may be able to leadline a small child around on Rose bareback, we cannot verify her riding behavior and are not adopting her as rideable for adults or with tack. Rose has worked hard for people her entire life and deserves an easy retirement. Rose will have a $0 adoption fee due to her age. UTD on dental, trim, CoreVax and dewormer

Some mules at Lost Meadows are waiting to enter our training program, and are eligible for “train-to-adopt” to eligible, experienced adopters with their adoption fee waived, and zero cost for transport within 250 miles of Caldwell, Texas. Lost Meadows guarantees pick up from your location if a return is needed. If you are interested in going through the application process for one of the mules below, contact matti@mulerescue.org.
