The bigger the rescue, the bigger the needs.

STOCK TRAILER
Without a truck and a trailer, a rescue’s operations come to a complete stop. Our rescue currently has one 16’ trailer. While this trailer is used for dozens of rescues, deliveries and vet appointments each month, we could really use a larger stock trailer for rescuing and transporting more mules at a time and draft mules. Our local trailer place has quoted us $15,000 for a 20’ gooseneck straight load stock trailer with a dividing door in the middle.

TILT CHUTE
A tilt chute is an extremely important piece of equipment for our operations. A tilt chute is the only way to safely trim hooves on wild, unhandled mules. Currently we borrow a tilt chute from another rescue, but would love to have our own someday so it is always available. Flying W is one of the only tilt chute manufacturers in the U.S. and has quoted us $39,500.

A PROPERTY
Our Refuge has grown so much that we would like to purchase a secondary property close to our main facility, to be used solely for our sanctuary mules. Our 23-acre main facility would house adoptable mules, and those with special needs who require medical care. $80,000 would cover the 20% downpayment on a 304- acre property meeting our needs.

ROUNDBALE STORAGE SHELTER
Our roundbales need to be stored in a shaded, dry area for optimal quality when they are fed. We generally store 1 month of hay at a time, and would need an approximately 30x12 shelter to store 30 roundbales. The cost of this shelter would be approximately $10,000.

HAY BALE TRAILER
In the event that our tractor were to break down or need maintenance, we need an alternate way to drop roundbales t0 125 mules every day. Roundbales weigh 800-1,000 pounds, so a round bale trailer that attaches to the back of our pick-up truck or an ATV is the most efficient way to move them. The quote for this piece of equipment is $1,999.

ABI WATER WAGON
A water wagon would be extremely useful to our operation in the event of a down well or frozen or busted pipes. With 122 mules, our daily water consumption during summer is over 1,200 gallons a day. A water wagon would ensure that all of our mules stay hydrated in the middle of any emergency. The cost from ABI for a 550 gallon water wagon is $8,000.
