ATHENA

is a 12 year old Molly who was transferred to our Refuge by Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue in 2025. Athena received some training at GGDHR, and has continued her training under saddle here with a local professional and performance rider. Videos are available of her being ridden, and at this time she is recommended for experienced riders only. Athena is excellent at the walk/trot, but if startled she will sometimes tuck and grab the bit at the lope, which is easily redirected by an experienced rider, but could be an issue for someone lacking knowledge or experience. She will also need further desensitization to strange noises on her back. We do not feel that these are behavioral issues but simply areas where Athena needs more training and she has tons of potential in the right hands. With consistent training in the hands of an experienced rider, Athena will become a priceless mule to own.
